2022-06-24rtc: Introduce ti-k3-rtcNishanth Menon1-0/+1
Introduce support for Texas Instruments Real Time Clock controller on newer K3 family of SoCs such as AM62x. The hardware module that is being supported is the "digital only" version which doesn't have capability of external wakeup sources and external power backup. However, for many practical applications, this should suffice as RTC is operational across low power sequences. The hardware block by itself is split into two distinct domains internally to further reduce the power consumption with the actual counter block and comparators clocked off a 32k clock source (which based on SoC integration can be sourced by an external crystal) and an register interface block which is driven by the bus clock. While optimal from power perspective, it does create some complicated synchronizations and sequences that one must be wary of in the driver handling. 2021-12-16rtc: gamecube: Add a RTC driver for the GameCube, Wii and Wii UEmmanuel Gil Peyrot1-0/+1
These three consoles share a device, the MX23L4005, which contains a clock and 64 bytes of SRAM storage, and is exposed on the EXI bus (similar to SPI) on channel 0, device 1. This driver allows it to be used as a Linux RTC device, where time can be read and set. The hardware also exposes two timers, one which shuts down the console and one which powers it on, but these aren’t supported currently. On the Wii U, the counter bias is stored in a XML file, /config/rtc.xml, encrypted in the SLC (eMMC storage), using a proprietary filesystem. In order to avoid having to implement all that, this driver assumes a bootloader will parse this XML file and write the bias into the SRAM, at the same location the other two consoles have it. 2021-08-10rtc: Improve performance of rtc_time64_to_tm(). Add tests.Cassio Neri1-0/+1
The current implementation of rtc_time64_to_tm() contains unnecessary loops, branches and look-up tables. The new one uses an arithmetic-based algorithm appeared in [1] and is approximately 4.3 times faster (YMMV). The drawback is that the new code isn't intuitive and contains many 'magic numbers' (not unusual for this type of algorithm). However, [1] justifies all those numbers and, given this function's history, the code is unlikely to need much maintenance, if any at all. Add a KUnit test case that checks every day in a 160,000 years interval starting on 1970-01-01 against the expected result. Add a new config RTC_LIB_KUNIT_TEST symbol to give the option to run this test suite. 2021-01-25rtc: mrst: Remove driver for deprecated platformAndy Shevchenko1-1/+0
Intel Moorestown and Medfield are quite old Intel Atom based 32-bit platforms, which were in limited use in some Android phones, tablets and consumer electronics more than eight years ago. 2019-02-21platform/chrome: wilco_ec: Add RTC driverNick Crews1-0/+1
This Embedded Controller has an internal RTC that is exposed as a standard RTC class driver with read/write functionality. The driver is added to the drivers/rtc/ so that the maintainer of that directory will be able to comment on this change, as that maintainer is the expert on this system. In addition, the driver code is called indirectly after a corresponding device is registered from core.c, as opposed to core.c registering the driver callbacks directly. i.MX8QXP is an ARMv8 SoC which has a Cortex-M4 system controller inside, the system controller is in charge of controlling power, clock and secure rtc etc.. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. Many RTCs have an on board non volatile storage. It can be battery backed RAM or an EEPROM. Use the nvmem subsystem to export it to both userspace and in-kernel consumers. These chips are commonly found in SGI O2 and SGI Octane systems. It was originally derived from a driver patch submitted by Matthias Fuchs many years ago for use in EPPC-405-UC modules, which also used these RTCs. In addition to the time-keeping functions, this RTC also handles the shutdown mechanism of the O2 and Octane and acts as a partial NVRAM for the boot PROMS in these systems. 2015-02-13rtc: add support for Abracon AB-RTCMC-32.768kHz-B5ZE-S3 I2C RTC chipArnaud Ebalard1-0/+1

Due to alarm accuracy limitation (and current lack of timer support in the driver), UIE mode is not supported. 2014-11-17rtc/tpo: Driver to support rtc and wakeup on PowerNV platformNeelesh Gupta1-0/+1
The patch implements the OPAL rtc driver that binds with the rtc driver subsystem. The driver uses the platform device infrastructure to probe the rtc device and register it to rtc class framework. The 'wakeup' is supported depending upon the property 'has-tpo' present in the OF node. It provides a way to load the generic rtc driver in in the absence of an OPAL driver. The patch also moves the existing OPAL rtc get/set time interfaces to the new driver and exposes the necessary OPAL calls using EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL. 2013-07-03drivers/rtc/rtc-sirfsoc.c: add rtc drivers for CSR SiRFprimaII and SiRFatlasVIXianglong Du1-0/+1
On CSR SiRFprimaII/atlasVI, there is a programmable 16-bit divider (RTC_DIV) that divides the input 32.768KHz clock to the frequency that users need (E.g. 1 Hz). The divided real-time clock will be used to drive a 32-bit counter (RTC_COUNTER) that provides users with the actual time. In each cycle of the divided real-time clock, there is a Hertz interrupt generated to the RISC. Users can also configure an alarm (RTC_ALARM). When RTC_COUNTER matches the alarm, there will be an alarm interrupt generated to the RISC. The system RTC can generate an alarm wake-up signal to notify the power controller to wake up from power saving mode. 2013-01-15NTP: Add a CONFIG_RTC_SYSTOHC configurationJason Gunthorpe1-0/+1
The purpose of this option is to allow ARM/etc systems that rely on the class RTC subsystem to have the same kind of automatic NTP based synchronization that we have on PC platforms. Today ARM does not implement update_persistent_clock and makes extensive use of the class RTC system. When enabled CONFIG_RTC_SYSTOHC will provide a generic rtc_update_persistent_clock that stores the current time in the RTC and is intended complement the existing CONFIG_RTC_HCTOSYS option that loads the RTC at boot. Like with RTC_HCTOSYS the platform's update_persistent_clock is used first, if it works. Platforms with mixed class RTC and non-RTC drivers need to return ENODEV when class RTC should be used. Such an update for PPC is included in this patch. Long term, implementations of update_persistent_clock should migrate to proper class RTC drivers and use CONFIG_RTC_SYSTOHC instead. 2013-01-06rtc: add rtc-driver for HID sensors of type timeAlexander Holler1-0/+1
This driver makes the time from HID sensors (hubs) which are offering such available like any other RTC does. It is necessary that all values like year, month etc, are send as 8bit values (1 byte each) and all of them in 1 report. Also the spec HUTRR39b doesn't define the range of the year field, we tread it as 0 - 99 because that's what most RTCs I know about are offering. Currently the time can only be read. Setting the time must be done through sending a report (or a feature). The spec currently doesn't define how and I'm not sure if I just should define something by myself. 2009-09-23rtc: add driver for MXC's internal RTC moduleDaniel Mack1-0/+1
This adds a driver for Freescale's MXC internal real time clock modules. The code is taken from Freescale's BSPs, but modified to fit the current kernel coding mechanisms. Also, the PMIC external clock function was removed for now to not add dead bits and keep the code as simple as possible. 2009-09-17rtc: Add support for RTCs on Wolfson WM831x devicesMark Brown1-0/+1
The WM831x series of PMICs contain RTC functionality. The hardware provides a 32 bit counter incrementing at 1Hz together with a per tick interrupt and an alarm value. For simplicity the driver chooses to define the epoch for the counter as the Unix epoch - if required platform data can be used in future to customise this. When powered on from a completely cold state the RTC reports that it has not been configured - when this happens an error is returned when attempting to read the RTC in order to avoid use of values we know to be invalid. The hardware also provides security features which mean that it can ignore attempts to set the RTC time in certain circumstances, most notably if the RTC is written to too often. These errors are detected by verifying the written RTC value. 2009-06-18rtc: add stand-alone driver for RX8025 chipWolfgang Grandegger1-0/+1
Add support for the Epson RX-8025SA/NB RTC chips. It includes support for alarms, periodic interrupts (1 Hz) and clock precision adjustment. For clock precision adjustment, the SYSFS file "clock_adjust_ppb" gets created in "/sys/class/rtc/rtcX/device". It permits to set and get the clock adjustment in ppb (parts per billion), e.g.: # echo -183000 > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/device/clock_adjust_ppb # cat /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/device/clock_adjust_ppb -183000 This allows to compensate temperature dependent clock drifts. According to the RX8025 SA/NB application manual the frequency and temperature characteristics can be approximated using the following equation: df = a * (ut - t)**2 df: Frequency deviation in any temperature a : Coefficient = (-35 +-5) * 10**-9 ut: Ultimate temperature in degree = +25 +-5 degree t : Any temperature in degree Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Grandegger <wg@grandegger.com> Signed-off-by: Sergei Poselenov <sposelenov@emcraft.com> Signed-off-by: Yuri Tikhonov <yur@emcraft.com> Signed-off-by: Dmitry Rakhchev <rda@emcraft.com> Signed-off-by: Matthias Fuchs <matthias.fuchs@esd.eu> Acked-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Signed-off-by: Alessandro Zummo <a.zummo@towertech.it> Cc: David Brownell <david-b@pacbell.net> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2008-10-22mfd: rtc-twl4030 driverDavid Brownell1-0/+1
This adds a driver for the RTC inside the TWL4030 multi-function device. It's a fairly basic RTC, with a wake-capable alarm. Note that many of the pre-release Overo boards now in circulation can't effectively use this RTC, because of a wiring error that puts its TWL chip into "secure" mode. (As in "secure yourself against tampering".) This isn't an issue on other OMAP3 boards now supported in mainline, such as Beagle and Labrador.
