Problem here is that br_forward_delay_timer_expired() is a timer
handler, calling br_ifinfo_notify() which assumes either rcu_read_lock()
or RTNL are held.
Simplest fix seems to add rcu read lock section.

When trying to configure the settings for PHY1, using commands
like 'ethtool -s eth0 phyad 1 speed 100', the 'ethtool' seems to
modify other settings apart from the speed of the PHY1, in the
above case.
The ethtool seems to query the settings for PHY0, and use this
as the base to apply the new settings to the PHY1. This is
causing the other settings of the PHY 1 to be wrongly
configured.
The issue is caused by the '_ethtool_get_settings()' API, which
gets called because of the 'ETHTOOL_GSET' command, is clearing
the 'cmd' pointer (of type 'struct ethtool_cmd') by calling
memset. This clears all the parameters (if any) passed for the
'ETHTOOL_GSET' cmd. So the driver's callback is always invoked
with 'cmd->phy_address' as '0'.
The '_ethtool_get_settings()' is called from other files in the
'net/core'. So the fix is applied to the 'ethtool_get_settings()'
which is only called in the context of the 'ethtool'.

When more than a multicast address is present in a MLDv2 report, all but
the first address is ignored, because the code breaks out of the loop if
there has not been an error adding that address.
This has caused failures when two guests connected through the bridge
tried to communicate using IPv6. Neighbor discoveries would not be
transmitted to the other guest when both used a link-local address and a
static address.
This only happens when there is a MLDv2 querier in the network.
The fix will only break out of the loop when there is a failure adding a
multicast address.

The tx_curr_frame_payload field is u32. When we try to calculate a
small negative delta based on it, we end up with a positive integer
close to 2^32 instead. So the tx_bytes pointer increases by about
2^32 for every transmitted frame.
Fix by calculating the delta as a signed long.

Netfilter fixes for net
The following patchset contain Netfilter fixes for your net tree, they are:
1) Fix a race in nfnetlink_log and nfnetlink_queue that can lead to a crash.
This problem is due to wrong order in the per-net registration and netlink
socket events. Patch from Francesco Ruggeri.
2) Make sure that counters that userspace pass us are higher than 0 in all the
x_tables frontends. Discovered via Trinity, patch from Dave Jones.
3) Revert a patch for br_netfilter to rely on the conntrack status bits. This
breaks stateless IPv6 NAT transformations. Patch from Florian Westphal.

ip_error does not check if in_dev is NULL before dereferencing it.
IThe following sequence of calls is possible:
CPU A CPU B
ip_rcv_finish
ip_route_input_noref()
ip_route_input_slow()
inetdev_destroy()
dst_input()
With the result that a network device can be destroyed while processing
an input packet.
A crash was triggered with only unicast packets in flight, and
forwarding enabled on the only network device. The error condition
was created by the removal of the network device.
As such it is likely the that error code was -EHOSTUNREACH, and the
action taken by ip_error (if in_dev had been accessible) would have
been to not increment any counters and to have tried and likely failed
to send an icmp error as the network device is going away.
Therefore handle this weird case by just dropping the packet if
!in_dev. It will result in dropping the packet sooner, and will not
result in an actual change of behavior.

Taking socket spinlock in tcp_get_info() can deadlock, as
inet_diag_dump_icsk() holds the &hashinfo->ehash_locks[i],
while packet processing can use the reverse locking order.
We could avoid this locking for TCP_LISTEN states, but lockdep would
certainly get confused as all TCP sockets share same lockdep classes.

Wait a little bit longer, 50mS instead of 20mS, until the driver starts
polling for pen-up. The problematic behavior before this patch is applied
is as follows. The behavior was observed on the STMPE610QTR controller.
Upon a physical pen-down event, the touchscreen reports one set of x-y-p
coordinates and a pen-down event. After that, the pen-up polling is
triggered and since the controller is not ready yet, the polling mistakenly
detects a pen-up event while the physical state is still such that the pen
is down on the touch surface.
The pen-up handling flushes the controller FIFO, so after that, all the
samples in the controller are discarded. The controller becomes ready
shortly after this bogus pen-up handling and does generate again a pen-down
interrupt. This time, the controller contains x-y-p samples which all read
as zero. Since pressure value is zero, this set of samples is effectively
ignored by userland.
In the end, the driver just bounces between pen-down and bogus pen-up
handling, generating no useful results. Fix this by giving the controller a
bit more time before polling it for pen-up.

Joydev is currently thinking some absolute mice are joystick, and that
messes up games in VMware guests, as the cursor typically gets stuck in
the top left corner.
Try to detect the event signature of a VMmouse input device and back off

VMware absolute USB mouse as a joystick, but adding an event signature
matching also that device would be considerably more risky, so defer that

Vijay reported that a loop as simple as ...

tc filter add dev foo parent 1: u32 match u32 0 0 flowid 1
tc qdisc del dev foo root
rmmod cls_u32
done
... will panic the kernel. Moreover, he bisected the change
apparently introducing it to 78fd1d0ab072 ("netlink: Re-add
locking to netlink_lookup() and seq walker").
The removal of synchronize_net() from the netlink socket
triggering the qdisc to be removed, seems to have uncovered
an RCU resp. module reference count race from the tc API.
Given that RCU conversion was done after e341694e3eb5 ("netlink:
Convert netlink_lookup() to use RCU protected hash table")
which added the synchronize_net() originally, occasion of
hitting the bug was less likely (not impossible though):
When qdiscs that i) support attaching classifiers and,
ii) have at least one of them attached, get deleted, they
invoke tcf_destroy_chain(), and thus call into ->destroy()
handler from a classifier module.
After RCU conversion, all classifier that have an internal
prio list, unlink them and initiate freeing via call_rcu()
deferral.
Meanhile, tcf_destroy() releases already reference to the
tp->ops->owner module before the queued RCU callback handler
has been invoked.
Subsequent rmmod on the classifier module is then not prevented
since all module references are already dropped.
By the time, the kernel invokes the RCU callback handler from
the module, that function address is then invalid.
One way to fix it would be to add an rcu_barrier() to
unregister_tcf_proto_ops() to wait for all pending call_rcu()s
to complete.
synchronize_rcu() is not appropriate as under heavy RCU
callback load, registered call_rcu()s could be deferred
longer than a grace period. In case we don't have any pending
call_rcu()s, the barrier is allowed to return immediately.
Since we came here via unregister_tcf_proto_ops(), there
are no users of a given classifier anymore. Further nested
call_rcu()s pointing into the module space are not being
done anywhere.
Only cls_bpf_delete_prog() may schedule a work item, to
unlock pages eventually, but that is not in the range/context
of cls_bpf anymore.

Commit 2f0810880f082fa8ba66ab2c33b02e4ff9770a5e changed
btrfs_set_block_group_ro to avoid trying to allocate new chunks with the
new raid profile during conversion. This fixed failures when there was
no space on the drive to allocate a new chunk, but the metadata
reserves were sufficient to continue the conversion.
But this ended up causing a regression when the drive had plenty of
space to allocate new chunks, mostly because reduce_alloc_profile isn't
using the new raid profile.
Fixing btrfs_reduce_alloc_profile is a bigger patch. For now, do a
partial revert of 2f0810880, and don't error out if we hit ENOSPC.

This reverts commit ba9d114ec5578e6e99a4dfa37ff8ae688040fd64.
.. which introduced a regression that prevented all lingering requests
requeued in kick_requests() from ever being sent to the OSDs, resulting
in a lot of missed notifies. In retrospect it's pretty obvious that
r_req_lru_item item in the case of lingering requests can be used not
only for notarget, but also for unsent linkage due to how tightly
actual map and enqueue operations are coupled in __map_request().
The assertion that was being silenced is taken care of in the previous
("libceph: request a new osdmap if lingering request maps to no osd")
commit: by always kicking homeless lingering requests we ensure that
none of them ends up on the notarget list outside of the critical
section guarded by request_mutex.

This commit does two things. First, if there are any homeless
lingering requests, we now request a new osdmap even if the osdmap that
is being processed brought no changes, i.e. if a given lingering
request turned homeless in one of the previous epochs and remained
homeless in the current epoch. Not doing so leaves us with a stale
osdmap and as a result we may miss our window for reestablishing the
watch and lose notifies.
MON=1 OSD=1:
# cat linger-needmap.sh
#!/bin/bash
rbd create --size 1 test
DEV=$(rbd map test)
ceph osd out 0
rbd map dne/dne # obtain a new osdmap as a side effect (!)
sleep 1
ceph osd in 0
rbd resize --size 2 test
# rbd info test | grep size -> 2M
# blockdev --getsize $DEV -> 1M
N.B.: Not obtaining a new osdmap in between "osd out" and "osd in"
above is enough to make it miss that resize notify, but that is a
bug^Wlimitation of ceph watch/notify v1.
Second, homeless lingering requests are now kicked just like those
lingering requests whose mapping has changed. This is mainly to
recognize that a homeless lingering request makes no sense and to
preserve the invariant that a registered lingering request is not
sitting on any of r_req_lru_item lists. This spares us a WARN_ON,
which commit ba9d114ec557 ("libceph: clear r_req_lru_item in
__unregister_linger_request()") tried to fix the _wrong_ way.

Problem reported by: Ted Kim <ted.h.kim@oracle.com>:
We have a case where a Linux system and a non-Linux system are
trying to interoperate. The Linux host is the active side and
starts the connection establishment, but later decides to not go
through with the connection setup and does rdma_destroy_id().
The rdma_destroy_id() eventually works its way down to cm_destroy_id()
in core/cm.c, where a REJ is sent. The non-Linux system
has some trouble recognizing the REJ because of:
A. CM states which can't receive the REJ
B. Some issues about REJ formatting (missing comm ID)
ISSUE A: That part of the spec says, a Consumer Reject REJ can be
sent for a connection abort, but it goes further
and says: can send a REJ message with a "Consumer Reject"
Reason code if they are in a CM state (i.e. REP
Rcvd, MRA(REP) Sent, REQ Rcvd, MRA Sent) that allows
a REJ to be sent (lines 35-38).
Of the states listed there in that sentence, it would
seem to limit the active side to using the Consumer Reject
(for the abort case) in just the REP-Rcvd and MRA-REP-Sent
states. That is basically only after the active side
sees a REP (or alternatively goes down the state transitions
to timeout in which case a Timeout REJ is sent).
As a fix, in cm-destroy-id() move the IB-CM-MRA-REQ-RCVD case
to the same as REQ-SENT. Essentially, make a REJ sent after
getting an MRA on active side a timeout rather than Consumer-
Reject, which is arguably more correct with the CM state
diagrams previous to getting a REP.

This is an alternative way of fixing:
commit db9683fb412d ("net: phy: Make sure PHY_RESUMING state change
is always processed")
When the PHY state transitions from PHY_HALTED to PHY_RESUMING, there are
two things we need to do:
1). Re-enable interrupts (and power up the physical link, if powered down)
2). Update the PHY state and net-device based on the link status.
There's no strict reason why #1 has to be done from within the main
phy_state_machine() function. There is a risk that other changes to the
PHY (e.g. setting speed/duplex, which calls phy_start_aneg()) could cause
a subsequent state transition before phy_state_machine() has processed
the PHY_RESUMING state change. This would leave the PHY with interrupts
disabled and/or still in the BMCR_PDOWN/low-power mode.
Moving enabling the interrupts and phy_resume() into phy_start() will
guarantee this work always gets done. As the PHY is already in the HALTED
state and interrupts are disabled, it shouldn't conflict with any work
being done in phy_state_machine(). The downside of this change is that if
the PHY_RESUMING state is ever entered from anywhere else, it'll also have
to repeat this work.

IPv6 ECMP route add/replace fixes
(1) When adding a nexthop of a multipath route fails (e.g. because of a
conflict with an existing route), we are supposed to delete nexthops
already added. However, currently we try to also delete all nexthops we
haven't even tried to add yet so that a "ip route add" command can
actually remove pre-existing routes if it fails.
(2) Attempt to replace a multipath route results in a broken siblings
linked list. Following commands (like "ip route del") can then either
follow a link into freed memory or end in an infinite loop (if the slab
object has been reused).
v2: fix an omission in first patch
v3: change the semantics of replace operation to better match IPv4

When replacing an IPv6 multipath route with "ip route replace", i.e.
NLM_F_CREATE | NLM_F_REPLACE, fib6_add_rt2node() replaces only first
matching route without fixing its siblings, resulting in corrupted
siblings linked list; removing one of the siblings can then end in an
infinite loop.
IPv6 ECMP implementation is a bit different from IPv4 so that route
replacement cannot work in exactly the same way. This should be a
reasonable approximation:
1. If the new route is ECMP-able and there is a matching ECMP-able one
already, replace it and all its siblings (if any).
2. If the new route is ECMP-able and no matching ECMP-able route exists,
replace first matching non-ECMP-able (if any) or just add the new one.
3. If the new route is not ECMP-able, replace first matching
non-ECMP-able route (if any) or add the new route.
We also need to remove the NLM_F_REPLACE flag after replacing old
route(s) by first nexthop of an ECMP route so that each subsequent
nexthop does not replace previous one.

If adding a nexthop of an IPv6 multipath route fails, comment in
ip6_route_multipath() says we are going to delete all nexthops already
added. However, current implementation deletes even the routes it
hasn't even tried to add yet. For example, running
ip route add 1234:5678::/64 \
nexthop via fe80::aa dev dummy1 \
nexthop via fe80::bb dev dummy1 \
nexthop via fe80::cc dev dummy1
twice results in removing all routes first command added.
Limit the second (delete) run to nexthops that succeeded in the first

This reverts commit c055d5b03bb4cb69d349d787c9787c0383abd8b2.
There are two issues:
'dnat_took_place' made me think that this is related to
-j DNAT/MASQUERADE.
But thats only one part of the story. This is also relevant for SNAT
when we undo snat translation in reverse/reply direction.
Furthermore, I originally wanted to do this mainly to avoid
storing ipv6 addresses once we make DNAT/REDIRECT work

However, I forgot about SNPT/DNPT which is stateless.
So we can't escape storing address for ipv6 anyway. Might as
well do it for ipv4 too.

After improving setsockopt() coverage in trinity, I started triggering

vzalloc+0x4b/0x50
__do_replace+0x52/0x260 [ip_tables]

raw_setsockopt+0x16/0x60
sock_common_setsockopt+0x14/0x20
SyS_setsockopt+0x71/0xd0
It turns out we don't validate that the num_counters field in the
struct we pass in from userspace is initialized.
The same problem also exists in ebtables, arptables, ipv6, and the
compat variants.

nfnetlink_{log,queue}_init() register the netlink callback nf*_rcv_nl_event
before registering the pernet_subsys, but the callback relies on data
structures allocated by pernet init functions.
When nfnetlink_{log,queue} is loaded, if a netlink message is received after
the netlink callback is registered but before the pernet_subsys is registered,
the kernel will panic in the sequence
nfulnl_rcv_nl_event
nfnl_log_pernet
net_generic
BUG_ON(id == 0) where id is nfnl_log_net_id.
The panic can be easily reproduced in 4.0.3 by:
while true ;do modprobe nfnetlink_log ; rmmod nfnetlink_log ; done &
while true ;do ip netns add dummy ; ip netns del dummy ; done &
This patch moves register_pernet_subsys to earlier in nfnetlink_log_init.

We've got reports that ALC3226 (a Dell variant of ALC292) gives click
noises at transition from D3 to D0 when the widget power-saving is
enabled. Further debugging session showed that avoiding it isn't
trivial, unfortunately, since paths are basically activated
dynamically while the pins have been already enabled.
This patch disables the widget power-saving for such codecs.

[d545a57c5f84:ALSA: hda - Sync node attributes at resume from widget
power saving]. However, the test was rater false-positive; this
wasn't needed for any codecs.
Since the resync may take significant number of additional verbs to be
executed, it's better to reduce it. Let's disable it for now again.

If while setting a block group read-only we end up allocating a system
chunk, through check_system_chunk(), we were not doing it while holding
the chunk mutex which is a problem if a concurrent chunk allocation is
happening, through do_chunk_alloc(), as it means both block groups can
end up using the same logical addresses and physical regions in the
device(s). So make sure we hold the chunk mutex.

btrfs_check_shared() is leaking a return value of '1' from
find_parent_nodes(). As a result, callers (in this case, extent_fiemap())
are told extents are shared when they are not. This in turn broke fiemap on
btrfs for kernels v3.18 and up.
The fix is simple - we just have to clear 'ret' after we are done processing
the results of find_parent_nodes().
It wasn't clear to me at first what was happening with return values in
btrfs_check_shared() and find_parent_nodes() - thanks to Josef for the help
on irc. I added documentation to both functions to make things more clear
for the next hacker who might come across them.
If we could queue this up for -stable too that would be great.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/daeinki/drm-exynos into drm-fixes
Summary:
- Use generic function to get buffer count instead of specific one.
In case of Exynos DRM, There was a special case which decides pixel
format of a given buffer according to planer types, which is NV12M and NV12.
However, NV12M doesn't exist in drm fourcc so it removes
exynos_drm_format_num_buffers() specific to Exynos DRM and use a generic function,
drm_format_num_planes() instead.
- Allow mixer driver to support NV21 format for Video processor.
This format was already supported but we just missed DRM_FORMAT_NV21 case
so this patch considers the case so that Mixer driver can handle it correctly.
- Add regression fix and some code cleanups.

After sending the new data packets to probe (step 2), F-RTO may
incorrectly send more probes if the next ACK advances SND_UNA and
does not sack new packet. However F-RTO RFC 5682 probes at most

Undo based on TCP timestamps should only happen on ACKs that advance
SND_UNA, according to the Eifel algorithm in RFC 3522:
Section 3.2:
(4) If the value of the Timestamp Echo Reply field of the
acceptable ACK's Timestamps option is smaller than the
value of RetransmitTS, then proceed to step (5),
Section Terminology:
We use the term 'acceptable ACK' as defined in [RFC793]. That is an
ACK that acknowledges previously unacknowledged data.
This is because upon receiving an out-of-order packet, the receiver
returns the last timestamp that advances RCV_NXT, not the current
timestamp of the packet in the DUPACK. Without checking the flag,
the DUPACK will cause tcp_packet_delayed() to return true and
tcp_try_undo_loss() will revert cwnd reduction.
Note that we check the condition in CA_Recovery already by only
calling tcp_try_undo_partial() if FLAG_SND_UNA_ADVANCED is set or
tcp_try_undo_recovery() if snd_una crosses high_seq.

handle_percpu_irq() and removing the action in __free_irq() because
handle_percpu_irq() does not take desc->lock. The interrupt handler
sees a NULL action and oopses.

mixer_regs_dump() was called in mixer_run(), which was called
under the register spinlock in mixer_graph_buffer() and
vp_video_buffer().
This would trigger a sysmmu pagefault with drm.debug=0xff because
of the large delay caused by the register dumping.
To keep consistency also move register dumping out of mixer_stop(),
which is the counterpart to mixer_run().

Disabling the CONFIG_DRM_EXYNOS_FIMD (e.g. by enabling of CONFIG_FB_S3C)
leads to build error:

Move the defines for the pixelformats that the mixer supports out
of mixer_graph_buffer() to the top of the source.
Then select the mixer pixelformat (pf) in mixer_graph_buffer() based on
the plane's pf (and not bpp).
Also add handling of RGB565 and XRGB1555 to the switch statement and
exit early if the plane has an unsupported pf.
Partially based on 'drm/exynos: enable/disable blend based on pixel
format' by Gustavo Padovan <gustavo.padovan@collabora.co.uk>.
v2: Use the shorter MXR_FORMAT as prefix.
v3: Re-add ARGB8888 because of compatibility reasons
(suggested by Joonyoung Shim).

The video processor (VP) supports four formats: NV12, NV21 and its
tiled variants. All these formats are bi-planar, so the buffer
count in vp_video_buffer() is always 2.
Also properly exit if we're called with an invalid (non-VP) pixelformat.

Previously we were ignoring the buffer offsets that are
passed through the addfb2 ioctl. This didn't cause any
major issues, since for uni-planar formats (like XRGB8888)
userspace would most of the time just use offsets[0]=0.
However with NV12 offsets[1] is very likely non-zero.
So properly apply the offsets to our dma addresses.

The previous code had some special case handling for the buffer
count in exynos_drm_format_num_buffers().
This code was incorrect though, since this special case doesn't
exist for DRM. It stemmed from the existence of the special NV12M
V4L2 format. NV12 is a bi-planar format (separate planes for luma
and chroma) and V4L2 differentiates between a NV12 buffer where
luma and chroma is contiguous in memory (so no data between
luma/chroma), and a NV12 buffer where luma and chroma have two
explicit memory locations (which is then called NV12M).
This distinction doesn't exist for DRM. A bi-planar format always
explicitly comes with the information about its two planes (even
if these planes should be contiguous).

Currently in snd_pcm_update_hw_ptr0 during interrupt,
we consider there were double acknowledged interrupts when:
1. HW reported pointer is smaller than expected, and
2. Time from last update time (hdelta) is over half a buffer time.
However, when HW reported pointer is only a few bytes smaller than
expected, and when hdelta is just a little larger than half a buffer time
(e.g. ping-pong buffer), it wrongly treats this IRQ as double acknowledged.
The condition #2 uses jiffies, but jiffies is not high resolution
since it is integer. We should consider jiffies inaccuracy.

block plug callback could sleep, so we introduce a parameter
'from_schedule' and corresponding drivers can use it to destinguish a
schedule plug flush or a plug finish. Unfortunately io_schedule_out
still uses blk_flush_plug(). This causes below output (Note, I added a
might_sleep() in raid1_unplug to make it trigger faster, but the whole
thing doesn't matter if I add might_sleep). In raid1/10, this can cause
deadlock.
This patch makes io_schedule_out always uses blk_schedule_flush_plug.
This should only impact drivers (as far as I know, raid 1/10) which are
sensitive to the 'from_schedule' parameter.

By inspection, this appears to be a typo. The gating comparison
involves vxlan->dev rather than dev. In fact, dev is the iterator in
the preceding loop above but it is actually constant in the 2nd loop.
Use of dev seems to be a bad cut-n-paste from the prior call to
unregister_netdevice_queue. Change dev to vxlan->dev, since that is
what is actually being checked.

Two watchdog changes that came through different trees had a non
conflicting conflict, that is, one changed the semantics of a variable
but no actual code conflict happened. So the merge appeared fine, but
the resulting code did not behave as expected.
Commit 195daf665a62 ("watchdog: enable the new user interface of the
watchdog mechanism") changes the semantics of watchdog_user_enabled,
which thereafter is only used by the functions introduced by
b3738d293233 ("watchdog: Add watchdog enable/disable all functions").
There further appears to be a distinct lack of serialization between
setting and using watchdog_enabled, so perhaps we should wrap the
{en,dis}able_all() things in watchdog_proc_mutex.
This patch fixes a s2r failure reported by Michal; which I cannot
readily explain. But this does make the code internally consistent
again.

Before the patch, the command 'ip link add bond2 type bond mode 802.3ad'
causes the kernel to send a rtnl message for the bond2 interface, with an
ifindex 0.
'ip monitor' shows:
0: bond2: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,MASTER> mtu 1500 state DOWN group default
link/ether 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

link/ether ea:3e:1f:53:92:7b brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
[snip]
The patch fixes the spotted bug by checking in bond driver if the interface
is registered before calling the notifier chain.
It also adds a check in rtmsg_ifinfo() to prevent this kind of bug in the
future.

We currently have no limit on the number of elements in a hash table.
This is a problem because some users (tipc) set a ceiling on the
maximum table size and when that is reached the hash table may
degenerate. Others may encounter OOM when growing and if we allow
insertions when that happens the hash table perofrmance may also
suffer.
This patch adds a new paramater insecure_max_entries which becomes
the cap on the table. If unset it defaults to max_size * 2. If
it is also zero it means that there is no cap on the number of
elements in the table. However, the table will grow whenever the
utilisation hits 100% and if that growth fails, you will get ENOMEM
on insertion.
As allowing oversubscription is potentially dangerous, the name
contains the word insecure.
Note that the cap is not a hard limit. This is done for performance
reasons as enforcing a hard limit will result in use of atomic ops
that are heavier than the ones we currently use.
The reasoning is that we're only guarding against a gross over-
subscription of the table, rather than a small breach of the limit.

If phy_start_aneg() was called while the phydev is in the PHY_RESUMING
state, then its state would immediately transition to PHY_AN (or
PHY_FORCING). This meant the phy_state_machine() never processed the
PHY_RESUMING state change, which meant interrupts weren't enabled for the
PHY. If the PHY used low-power mode (i.e. using BMCR_PDOWN), then the
physical link wouldn't get powered up again.
There seems no point for phy_start_aneg() to make the PHY_RESUMING -->
PHY_AN transition, as the state machine will do this anyway. I'm not sure
about the case where autoneg is disabled, as my patch will change
behaviour so that the PHY goes to PHY_NOLINK instead of PHY_FORCING. An
alternative solution would be to move the phy_config_interrupt() and
phy_resume() work out of the state machine and into phy_start().
The background behind this: we're running linux v3.16.7 and from user-space
we want to enable the eth port (i.e. do a SIOCSIFFLAGS ioctl with the
IFF_UP flag) and immediately afterward set the interface's speed/duplex.
Enabling the interface calls .ndo_open() then phy_start() and the PHY
transitions PHY_HALTED --> PHY_RESUMING. Setting the speed/duplex ends up
calling phy_ethtool_sset(), which calls phy_start_aneg() (meanwhile the
phy_state_machine() hasn't processed the PHY_RESUMING state change yet).

The commit c5adde9468b0714a051eac7f9666f23eb10b61f7 ("netlink:
eliminate nl_sk_hash_lock") breaks the autobind retry mechanism
because it doesn't reset portid after a failed netlink_insert.
This means that should autobind fail the first time around, then
the socket will be stuck in limbo as it can never be bound again
since it already has a non-zero portid.

RGMII interfaces come in multiple flavors: RGMII with transmit or
receive internal delay, no delays at all, or delays in both direction.
This change extends the initial check for PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_RGMII to
cover all of these variants since EEE should be allowed for any of these
modes, since it is a property of the RGMII, hence Gigabit PHY capability
more than the RGMII electrical interface and its delays.

In commit 8ff16cf77ce3 ("Documentation: devicetree: m25p80: add "nor-jedec"
binding"), we added a generic "nor-jedec" binding to catch all
mostly-compatible SPI NOR flash which can be detected via the READ ID
opcode (0x9F). This was discussed and reviewed at the time, however
objections have come up since then as part of this discussion:
http://lkml.kernel.org/g/20150511224646.GJ32500@ld-irv-0074
It seems the parties involved agree that "jedec,spi-nor" does a better
job of capturing the fact that this is SPI-specific, not just any NOR
flash.
This binding was only merged for v4.1-rc1, so it's still OK to change
the naming.
At the same time, let's move the documentation to a better name.
Next up: stop referring to code (drivers/mtd/devices/m25p80.c) from the
documentation.

In compliance with RFC5961, the network stack send challenge ACK in
response to spurious SYN packets, since commit 0c228e833c88 ("tcp:
Restore RFC5961-compliant behavior for SYN packets").
This pose a problem for netfilter conntrack in state LAST_ACK, because
this challenge ACK is (falsely) seen as ACKing last FIN, causing a
false state transition (into TIME_WAIT).
The challenge ACK is hard to distinguish from real last ACK. Thus,
solution introduce a flag that tracks the potential for seeing a
challenge ACK, in case a SYN packet is let through and current state
is LAST_ACK.
When conntrack transition LAST_ACK to TIME_WAIT happens, this flag is
used for determining if we are expecting a challenge ACK.

drivers/net/ethernet/mellanox/mlx4/resource_tracker.c:3048:10: error: 'cq' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Werror=maybe-uninitialized]
cq->mtt = mtt;
I think the warning is spurious because we only use cq when
cq_res_start_move_to() returns zero, and it always initializes *cq in that
case. The srq case is similar. But maybe gcc isn't smart enough to figure
that out.

It was reported that trancerout6 would cause
a kernel to crash when trying to compute checksums
on raw UDP packets. The cause was the check in
__ip6_append_data that would attempt to use
partial checksums on the packet. However,
raw sockets do not initialize partial checksum
fields so partial checksums can't be used.
Solve this the same way IPv4 does it. raw sockets
pass transhdrlen value of 0 to ip_append_data which
causes the checksum to be computed in software. Use
the same check in ip6_append_data (check transhdrlen).

play tricks with us caused a serious audio regression to happen on

decide how to expose audio to the OS and does that to hide the lack
of proper support for its I2S audio in Linux), so revert that
commit for now and we'll revisit the issue in the next cycle.
- Ensure that the ordering of acpi_reserve_resources() with respect
to the rest of the ACPI initialization sequence will always be the

This issue is because when calling unset_migratetype_isolate() to unset
a part of CMA memory, it try to access the buddy page to get its status:
if (order >= pageblock_order) {
page_idx = page_to_pfn(page) & ((1 << MAX_ORDER) - 1);
buddy_idx = __find_buddy_index(page_idx, order);
buddy = page + (buddy_idx - page_idx);
if (!is_migrate_isolate_page(buddy)) {
But the begin addr of this part of CMA memory is very close to a part of
memory that is reserved at boot time (not in buddy system). So add a
check before accessing it.

{u,g}id_valid call {u,g}id_eq, which calls __k{u,g}id_val on both
arguments and compares. With !CONFIG_MULTIUSER, __k{u,g}id_val return a
constant 0, which makes {u,g}id_valid always return false. Change
{u,g}id_valid to compare their argument against -1 instead. That produces
identical results in the normal CONFIG_MULTIUSER=y case, but with
!CONFIG_MULTIUSER will make {u,g}id_valid constant-fold into "return
true;" rather than "return false;".
This fixes uses of devpts without CONFIG_MULTIUSER.

root->ino_ida is used for kernfs inode number allocations. Since IDA has
a layered structure, different IDs can reside on the same layer, which
is currently accounted to some memory cgroup. The problem is that each
kmem cache of a memory cgroup has its own directory on sysfs (under
/sys/fs/kernel/<cache-name>/cgroup). If the inode number of such a
directory or any file in it gets allocated from a layer accounted to the
cgroup which the cache is created for, the cgroup will get pinned for
good, because one has to free all kmem allocations accounted to a cgroup
in order to release it and destroy all its kmem caches. That said we
must not account layers of ino_ida to any memory cgroup.
Since per net init operations may create new sysfs entries directly
(e.g. lo device) or indirectly (nf_conntrack creates a new kmem cache
per each namespace, which, in turn, creates new sysfs entries), an easy
way to reproduce this issue is by creating network namespace(s) from
inside a kmem-active memory cgroup.

Not all kmem allocations should be accounted to memcg. The following
patch gives an example when accounting of a certain type of allocations to
memcg can effectively result in a memory leak. This patch adds the
__GFP_NOACCOUNT flag which if passed to kmalloc and friends will force the
allocation to go through the root cgroup. It will be used by the next
patch.
Note, since in case of kmemleak enabled each kmalloc implies yet another
allocation from the kmemleak_object cache, we add __GFP_NOACCOUNT to
gfp_kmemleak_mask.
Alternatively, we could introduce a per kmem cache flag disabling
accounting for all allocations of a particular kind, but (a) we would not
be able to bypass accounting for kmalloc then and (b) a kmem cache with
this flag set could not be merged with a kmem cache without this flag,
which would increase the number of global caches and therefore
fragmentation even if the memory cgroup controller is not used.
Despite its generic name, currently __GFP_NOACCOUNT disables accounting
only for kmem allocations while user page allocations are always charged.
To catch abusing of this flag, a warning is issued on an attempt of
passing it to mem_cgroup_try_charge.

The journal revoke block recovery code does not check r_count for
sanity, which means that an evil value of r_count could result in
the kernel reading off the end of the revoke table and into whatever
garbage lies beyond. This could crash the kernel, so fix that.
However, in testing this fix, I discovered that the code to write
out the revoke tables also was not correctly checking to see if the
block was full -- the current offset check is fine so long as the
revoke table space size is a multiple of the record size, but this
is not true when either journal_csum_v[23] are set.

Currently when journal restart fails, we'll have the h_transaction of
the handle set to NULL to indicate that the handle has been effectively
aborted. We handle this situation quietly in the jbd2_journal_stop() and just
free the handle and exit because everything else has been done before we
attempted (and failed) to restart the journal.
Unfortunately there are a number of problems with that approach
introduced with commit
41a5b913197c "jbd2: invalidate handle if jbd2_journal_restart()
fails"
First of all in ext4 jbd2_journal_stop() will be called through
__ext4_journal_stop() where we would try to get a hold of the superblock
by dereferencing h_transaction which in this case would lead to NULL
pointer dereference and crash.
In addition we're going to free the handle regardless of the refcount
which is bad as well, because others up the call chain will still
reference the handle so we might potentially reference already freed
memory.
Moreover it's expected that we'll get aborted handle as well as detached
handle in some of the journalling function as the error propagates up
the stack, so it's unnecessary to call WARN_ON every time we get
detached handle.
And finally we might leak some memory by forgetting to free reserved
handle in jbd2_journal_stop() in the case where handle was detached from
the transaction (h_transaction is NULL).
Fix the NULL pointer dereference in __ext4_journal_stop() by just
calling jbd2_journal_stop() quietly as suggested by Jan Kara. Also fix
the potential memory leak in jbd2_journal_stop() and use proper
handle refcounting before we attempt to free it to avoid use-after-free
issues.
And finally remove all WARN_ON(!transaction) from the code so that we do
not get random traces when something goes wrong because when journal
restart fails we will get to some of those functions.

The current iteration in get_dsi_id_from_intf() is wrong:
instead of iterating until hw_cfg->intf.count, we need to iterate
until MDP5_INTF_NUM_MAX here.
Let's take the example of msm8x16:
hw_cfg->intf.count = 1
intfs[0] = INTF_Disabled
intfs[1] = INTF_DSI
If we stop iterating once i reaches hw_cfg->intf.count (== 1),
we will miss the test for intfs[1].
Actually, this hw_cfg->intf.count entry is quite confusing and is not
(or *should not be*) used anywhere else; let's remove it.
